Midea Building Technologies Showcases Sustainable Innovations at MCE 2026

Midea Building Technologies (MBT) made a strong impression at MCE 2026, presenting its full portfolio of sustainable solutions spanning data centers, VRF systems, heat pump applications, and integrated building management. Multiple products received the MCE Excellence Awards 2026, recognizing MBT’s leadership in eco-friendly refrigerants and energy-efficient technologies.

Midea V9 VRF System

Midea officially launched its new V9 VRF system, a landmark innovation built on two core technologies: the all-new ShieldBox II electric control box and a reliable R32 refrigerant solution, both purpose‑built to meet rigorous industry and environmental standards.

ShieldBox II features an automotive‑grade one‑piece die‑cast aluminum housing, reducing volume by 70% to accommodate a larger heat exchanger and boost outdoor unit efficiency. Its three‑zoning design integrates IP68‑rated protection for zero environmental interference, while the phase‑change cooling technology maintains 30°C steady coolant cooling, extending component lifespan and enabling stable operation even in extreme environments.

The V9 is equipped with eco‑friendly R32 refrigerant, aligning with low‑carbon development goals and advancing Midea’s commitment to green and sustainable innovation. The system has successfully passed TÜV’s first‑ever three-tier protection safety assessment for flammable refrigerant VRF systems, earning certification that confirms its safety performance meets internationally leading standards—setting a solid foundation for broader adoption of eco‑friendly refrigerants in the HVAC industry.

R290 Heat Pump Portfolio on Display

MBT showcased its R290 heat pump portfolio, covering heating capacities from 4kW to 70kW to serve residential, commercial, and industrial applications with diverse customer needs.

The Mars Large R290 ATW Commercial Heat Pump, an MCE Excellence Award winner, delivers ultra‑high leaving water temperatures up to 85°C, meeting the demands of high‑temperature heating applications. It features eco‑friendly R290 refrigerant (GWP 0.02) for high efficiency and low environmental impact. With full DC inverter technology and dual compressor backup, it ensures reliable operation even under demanding conditions. The unit adopts a side‑air structure with a compact footprint of just 0.72 m², making it ideal for space‑constrained installations. Achieving an A+++ energy rating, it maintains 100% heating capacity at -10°C and 65% at -20°C, and supports a variety of intelligent configurations to meet diverse application needs.

The Arctic Series M4 and Mars R290 ATW Heat Pumps were also on display, together forming a comprehensive R290 product lineup driving the transition to natural refrigerant-based heating.

M thermal Arctic S4 R454C Split Heat Pump

The M thermal Arctic S4 R454C Split Heat Pump, an MCE Excellence Award winner, is designed for balcony and equipment room installations, offering a compact and eco‑friendly heating solution. It uses R454C refrigerant with a GWP of 146, complying with F‑Gas regulations while providing efficient and reliable performance.

The system features a slim indoor unit ideal for retrofits, enabling easy installation in space‑constrained environments. It delivers stable heating down to -25°C, while also achieving a leaving water temperature of up to 70°C, ensuring comfort even in harsh winter conditions. A high‑reliability, touchless electric control box enhances electrical safety and stability. The full DC inverter system achieves an A+++ energy efficiency rating, and with APP control and Smart Grid readiness, it offers intelligent, flexible operation.

Data Center Cooling Solutions

Addressing growing data center cooling demands, MBT showcased its liquid cooling solutions through an interactive diorama, demonstrating the working principles of low-temperature water cooling. The system integrates precision CDUs, fan walls, and magnetic bearing centrifugal chillers to achieve an annual PUE as low as 1.2.

The showcase featured two key products: the AirBoost Vera Air-Cooled Magnetic Bearing Centrifugal Chiller and the Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU). The AirBoost Vera chiller features dual-power switching and customizable THDi for reliable power supply. With outlet water up to 36°C and a 20°C temperature difference, it delivers exceptional efficiency. Standard indirect natural cooling and eco-friendly refrigerant compatibility make it a sustainable choice for modern data centers. The CDU is engineered with multiple redundancies, leak-proof protection, and high cleanliness standards, with 100% tested core components to guarantee long-term reliability.

Integrated Residential Energy Management Solutions

MBT also presented the iEasyEnergy solution, integrating PV, storage, heat pumps, and intelligent control algorithms for coordinated multi-energy management. On-site, it was showcased alongside the AquaLink All‑in‑One Hydraulic Module and the Nature Plus R290 Heat Pump, demonstrating system integration capabilities and ecosystem compatibility.

AquaLink simplifies hydronic system installation with 85% faster installation and 75% less space required compared to traditional solutions. With fewer connections, it lowers leakage risk during installation and offers flexible configuration—allowing removal of secondary plate exchangers or buffer tanks—while supporting domestic hot water and dual‑zone functions for diverse user needs.
