The 3rd Session Midea International HVAC Design Contest Officially Launches ENSOUL BUILDING, Constructing a Green Future for Architecture

The 3^rd Session Midea International HVAC Design Contest officially kicked off on May 9. As an event of great importance for the HVAC industry, the competition, hosted by Midea Building Technologies, is committed to the mission of “Ensoul Building”. It gathers industry experts across the globe to discuss the future development of green building and sustainable living. 

20 sessions of the Midea competition have been successfully held in China since its launch in 2002; it has since become one of the most influential and representative events for the country’s HVAC industry. Known as the “Oscars” of China’s HVAC field, the competition has attracted more than 80,000 participants over the years, producing a host of design talents and outstanding energy-saving, low-carbon projects that have been recognized by the industry. In 2021, Midea Building Technologies expanded the contest to a global stage, and has since hosted two sessions across Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, the UAE, and Georgia. The event is now an important international platform for communication in the HVAC industry.  

The launch ceremony, conducted in the form of a global live broadcast, reviewed the history of the competition and explained the contest rules for this session. Judges and representatives of winners of the previous session from China, UAE, and Malaysia were also present to remotely share their experiences. Mr. Henry, General Manager of the International Business Department of Midea Building Technologies, delivered a speech expressing his gratitude to the participants and the judges of the previous two sessions, and said that the competition will be available in more countries this year: "In 2023, we hope to expand the competition to more countries. By leveraging the influence of local associations, as well as the competition's original mission of “Ensoul Building”, we hope to inspire the whole industry to move towards a direction that is low-carbon, energy-saving and intelligent."

After the launch ceremony, the competition will enter its promotional period from May to July, opening for submissions worldwide. The national juries will complete the preliminary round of judging in August, while the final round will take place in September. In November, a grand award ceremony will be held to recognize the exceptional works of award-winners. Midea Building Technologies encourages professionals, designers, teachers, and students across the world to participate in this notable international contest and promote development in the global HVAC industry.

The HVAC industry is actively driving the green and low-carbon transition under the current wave of “carbon neutrality and carbon peak”. On top of providing a platform for technical competition and academic exchange, the Midea International HVAC Design Contest is also an important medium for promoting the vision of sustainable development and environmental living.
