China Telecom

China Telecom has developed a large-scale full liquid-cooled intelligent computing data center in Guangdong Province, China. Positioned as a national-level computing infrastructure project, it is part of the country’s integrated computing power network, supporting the growing demand for high-performance, real-time computing.
The high heat density of intelligent computing requires a cooling system that balances peak stability with aggressive energy-saving mandates.
To meet these demands, MBT supplied three 10kV high-voltage water-cooled inverter direct-drive centrifugal chillers for the A2 data center chilled water system, delivering a total cooling capacity of 6,330 kW as the core of the cooling solution.
01 Dual-System Architecture
System 1
Water-cooled central air conditioning serving power rooms, battery rooms, and in-row cooling, with a maximum cooling load of 17,390 kW.
System 2
Closed cooling tower system dedicated to liquid-cooled cabinets, designed for a maximum cooling load of 19,845 kW.
02 Energy-Saving Design
Utilizes a primary-only variable flow system with a 15/21°C chilled water design. Plate heat exchangers enable “Free Cooling” in winter (WB ≤10°C).
03 Reliable Piping Architecture
Based on Midea’s 10kV high-voltage water-cooled inverter direct-drive centrifugal chillers + plate heat exchanger + open cooling tower configuration, the system features a dual-riser loop supply design with double valves at key nodes, enabling online maintenance without service interruption.
The 10kV high-voltage frequency conversion centrifugal chillers serve as the heart of the system, delivering unmatched performance.
High Efficiency
Integrates dual-stage compression and aerospace aerodynamics to reach a superior COP (Coefficient of Performance) of 7.6
Advanced Heat Exchange
Falling-film evaporation increases efficiency while reducing refrigerant charge; supports customizable “Zero-Power” free cooling
Adaptive Operation
Wide-Range compressor design adapts to varied conditions, including large temperature differences and primary-only variable flow systems
Intelligent Stability
Microcomputer controls with predictive logic and self-diagnosis ensure stable water temperatures and zero fluctuations

As one of China’s first large-scale full liquid-cooled intelligent computing data centers, the project marks an important step in the development of national computing infrastructure. It strengthens high-performance, real-time computing capabilities while setting a practical reference for energy-efficient, low-PUE data center design.
Through this project, MBT further demonstrates its system-level cooling expertise and its ability to deliver reliable, high-efficiency solutions for next-generation data centers.
