Lens Technology Vietnam Industrial Park

Lens Technology Vietnam Industrial Park

Located in Vietnam, Lens Technology’s Second Industrial Park is a landmark project dedicated to the production of high-end consumer electronics and new energy vehicle components.

Covering a total construction area of 314,000 square meters, the park features a 2,000 m² Energy Hub, responsible for the regional cooling supply of all workshops within the campus.

To meet the park’s massive cooling demands and sustainability targets, Midea Building Tech. took charge of constructing a high-efficiency chiller plant, marking a benchmark for industrial energy innovation in Vietnam.

4 Key Challenges

  • Massive Cooling Demand
  • Inefficient Decentralized Systems
  • Ultra-Tight Delivery & High-EER Target
  • Centralized Energy Management Requirement

5 Breakthroughs

1. Main Engine and Power System

The 10kV High-voltage Direct-start Chiller requires no transformers, cutting electrical loss by 5-8% and reducing cable diameter by 50%, lowering initial investment by 2 million yuan.

Equipped with Midea’s Self-developed High-voltage Starting Cabinet, tested 3,000+ times with a failure rate below 0.01%.

The Permanent Magnet Synchronous Double-suction Pump Group boosts efficiency by 8%, achieving 97% motor efficiency and over 25% energy savings.

2. Low-Resistance Piping Network Design

Using Visualization Simulation Platform, 3D modeling optimized layouts, lowering system water resistance by 20%.

Right-angle Filters and Rubber Flap Check Valves lowering water resistance and eliminated jamming or noise issues.

Variable Flow Cooling Tower with permanent magnet direct-drive motors increased efficiency by 20%, while reducing maintenance costs.

3. Modular Construction

Over 90% of pipelines and supports were pre-fabricated in the factory, shortening the construction period by 45 days, reducing on-site work by 60%, and achieving a 100% first-pass pressure test rate.

4. Midea Smart Brain

The Integrated Strong and Weak Control Cabinet incorporates Midea’s Self-developed DDC Controller, the Intelligent Control System and iEfficiency O&M Platform monitor chillers, pumps, and towers in real time, optimizing performance through AI algorithms for sustained high efficiency.

5. Multi-Temperature Zone Precise Temperature Control System

Two 2,300RT medium-temperature heat recovery units directly provide 45°C heat sources, each capable of recycling 8 million kWh of heat annually and reducing carbon emissions by 5,000 tons—a key step toward net-zero manufacturing.

Project Value

  • Annual comprehensive EER ≥ 5.72, exceeding industry average by 30%+
  • 12 million RMB electricity cost savings per year
  • 3.5-year investment payback period
  • 11,000 tons CO₂ reduction annually, equivalent to planting 600,000 fir trees

The implementation of the High-efficiency chiller plant room not only vividly demonstrates Midea's “green technology” strategy, but also marks a leap in industrial refrigeration from merely “meeting demands” to “creating value.”
